Fire Safety through Education

Our fire safety house is openly available to any fire department or municipality for your fire safety education programs.  The house teaches children how to evacuate a burning home by crawling through dense smoke.

The following are principles that we aim to teach with our fire safety house:

  1. Crawling low through smoke
  2. The principles of smoke detectors
  3. How to feel doors for heat and whether or not to use that door.
  4. The importance of preplanning for emergencies in the home
  5. Having a meeting place outside of the home
  6. Having two ways out of every room

The house features two classrooms.  The downstairs of the house is made up of a bedroom, hallway, and control room.  The upstairs features an additional bedroom, closet, deck and stairwell.
